Not sure how many agencies out there can talk about launching a successful Magento 2 project, but I know we can!
I have to say, that as the MD of a successful London based Magento Agency, I was somewhat fearful and excited all at the same time when we decided to make the plunge. I was fearful because I had heard that this new Magento release was a complete rewrite and that my Magento developers and Magento Subject Matter Experts would effectively need to retrain! “Retrain”! I cried!!! “It took us a year to become proficient in Magento 1, for crying out loud”! My Technical Director said “Calm down Becs, hold on tight and enjoy the ride, we are moving up”!
So, if anyone knows me, it was hard for me to calm down – like my drama, keeps things interesting – but I certainly held on tight, trusted my Magento team and decided to enjoy the ride.
The result was in fact that we had to retrain, but that was par for the course. However, because my team have an excellent knowledge of Magento, it took no time at all to understand what was going on and get our first Magento 2 project delivered – The Real Flower Company. I won’t lie, there were some real teething issues with Magento 2, but we were able to overcome them.
The thing that really hit us about Magento 2 was in fact it’s performance! The Real Flower Company was featured on CountryFile last night (15th June), even though we put in place a holding page to take peak hit, we decided to pull this down when there was a considerable number of sessions still running and the site ran like a dream, like a dream!!
So, now onto the next Magento 2 project – well, we already are!
