Magento is so flexible, it is setup to sell all sorts of products and food is no exception.

It really does not matter what type of food you sell; cheese, chocolate, hampers, you name it, Magento can handle it all.

With food, particularly selling gourmet food with Magento, it is important to get really good photography of each product. You need that photography to be good enough that people can zoom in on the product, really get to see the detail.

Apart from getting a great user experience on the front end, the big thing that people are concerned about with selling food online is the delivery. If you are selling fresh / perishable foods then you may think that online selling is not for you. At The Fine Cheese Co. they have resolved this by having a slick process – I can't really give away what they do, however I can tell you that when they connected their site to DPD, it made a big difference. With doing this they now don't need to manually get the orders, work out what needs to be picked up when, then manually put the manifest together for DPD and then put tracking codes into the shipment email to the customer, this is all automated.

Your next step is using Magento for selling food.
