Merci Maman

A popular mid range personalisation jewellery brand, based in Paris and London but trading globally

Overview

When we first spoke with Merci Maman, they were already on Magento 2 but due to errors in the initial build the site was slow and not performing well. Their incumbent agency had recommended they move to BigCommerce but they had doubts and were recommended by a partner brand to speak with objectsource before making any decisions. After completing an audit, we agreed with their incumbent that the site needed a total rebuild but due to their multi currency model and the complexity of their personalisation we recommended they stay on Magento. This was a complex and ambitious build that included a full redesign

Challenge

  • Already on Magento 2, but the site was not performing and had issues. The first step was to bring them confidence that Magento was still right for them and not BigCommerce.
  • Highly complex product setup. Every component of every jewellery item sold can be customised.
  • Multi-site and multi-language requirement.
  • Many manual operational processes that cost time, money and mistakes to occur.
  • Not the most engaging or optimum user experience for their brand or type of product.
  • Two workshops where they needed to manage the inventory separately.
  • They had an ambitious timeline.

Solution

On starting the project in June, the go live date was requested to be October, mid September it was set to 28th September, which was met.

  • Complete bespoke redesign with competitor analysis to ensure design and UX would be the best in breed.
  • Review or operational processes and replacement automated solutions put in place.
  • Complete review of product setup in order to provide a feature rich browsing experience; intelligent Quick filters to switch between metals at PLP level, full user configuration of their product, MSI for managing stock across 2 locations; London and Paris.
  • A global multisite with 7 fully translated sites; from the front-end, through to all automated email communications.
  • Integration with checkout.com and Ometria.

What We Did

Fully bespoke design and rebrand, starting with a competitor analysis to ensure it would be the best in breed with not just design, but also UX. This was done in full collaboration with their Brand Team in producing and signing off the designs. As there were no compromises made to the design during the development phase, the site launched with immediate sign-off from Brand.

This was a highly complex product setup with the ability to customise every component of the jewellery; gemstone, engraving one side, both sides, inside etc. With each options, the main product image would change, giving the customer confidence in what they are purchasing.

There there were 7 x country sites, all with full language translations; from the front-end, through to all automated email communications.

Launched on Magento Open Source, latest version as at time of go-live, NOT when the project started, as many agencies do, then charge for upgrading after go live!

The Results

The results are exceptional, even we expected a few Go-Live bumps but it all went swimmingly. The site is fast, the UX is seamless and the design is inspiring. Merci Maman continues with us on a retainer and we look forward to taking this brand from strength to strength.
