Marketplace Websites using Magento

By 31 January 2014No Comments

Building a Marketplace website, a website where you can get many different suppliers to come together in one online shop and sell their products, is the perfect solution for an Online Marketer.

Not everyone is good at sourcing the right suppliers at the right price in order to be able to make a decent margin online, but if you think about it, you don't need to be able to do this with a Marketplace. What you need to be good at is marketing your website in such a way that suppliers will be interested in selling on your site – look at Amazon and eBay after all, this is what they are good at. Then 'all' you need to do is start marketing the website well enough to find the customers and a good combination of Paid Search (adwords) and search engine optimisation will get you there.

Magento Marketplace You may think that Magento is only good for those online shop owners that source their own products, but no, with uMarketplace from Unirgy, you can now have an all singing all dancing Marketplace. This Magento extension enables you to give your suppliers access to the back-end of your website so that they can enter in their own products, set the pricing, the shipping, promotions etc and you just do what you know best – online marketing.

A quick example

“MyGoodness is the unique destination where inspired shopping meets feel good giving”.

They wanted to be able to enable some of their suppliers to input their own products and set them up in their online shop. They heard about our expertise in being able to install, configure and setup uMarketplace, developed by Unirgy and subsequently asked us to do this for them. The whole process took less than a week. Once complete, we then worked with Unirgy, on behalf of MyGoodness, to build some custom features. MyGoodness are now fully launched with their Magento Marketplace.

So now they can have their suppliers enter products, charge different delivery per supplier, vendor financial statements, order management for each vendor and much more.

If you are considering building or building in marketplace functionality, the uMarketplace from Unirgy is just the Magento extension you should buy. Do be careful to make sure you get a Magento development agency that has experience, to do this for you. This is a very well developed extension and expects your online Magento shop to be the same!

If only it was that easy, well it really can be. Go to the Unirgy website and get a demo and then take a look at some of our websites to see it in action – From Britain With Love, My Goodness, 59 Strings. Zorma.
