Whoa! We did not see that coming! But, wow, have we got this process nailed now!
Ok, so you never know when a patch is going to be released for Magento, especially when they are security related! However, what we did not expect was that for Magento 2 it was a whole release!! This means we are having to take the sites down to release this. Problem is, we have to do it and fast! Why…? When a release is announced, so is what it is fixing and this information is widely available on the internet for anyone to see and then work out how to exploit the holes!
I really just hope that if you are running Magento 2, that you have a good agency looking after your website, because releasing this patch is not completely straight forward! We have had our Magento Technical Director and Senior Magento Developer assessing both the patch for Magento 1 and Magento 2 to understand the impact of it before we just blindly apply it, this is just darn good practice. The Magento 1 patch was relatively noninvasive, but the Magento 2 patch is a little more involved.
Anyway, I am very proud to announce that if you are a client of objectsource, then you were all patched up before Magento made the announcement, that is just how on the button we are!
