Magento 2 has Bugs?

Hey you folk that are worried about things you may have heard about Magento 2 and the bugs it has! Let me try to alleviate those concerns.

 

So, lets not beat around the bush here, Magento 2 has bugs! But guess what…? So does hundreds of other platforms out there! Believe me, I have been around this eCommerce block a while (rather we did not talk about how long, if you don’t mind) and seen some platforms that companies pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for and that is just to use it, never mind the fees to actually make it the eCommerce website you want!!

 

Here’s the thing folk, sooooo many more people use Magento than any other eCommerce platform out there. So there are hundreds of thousands more people effectively ‘testing’ Magento 2 than any other platform like BigCommerce, Volusion, Shopify and so on. Is it any wonder that you are therefore going to hear more about their bugs than others!? The other great thing about this is that it means that Magento are a) getting loads of great feedback to make the platform awesome and b) because loads of people are being affected, they are working quickly to get the bugs resolved and we can see that from the releases they keep sending out.

 

The other thing I really want to say about this is something I bang on about a lot! You HAVE to make sure you pick an agency that really knows what they are doing when it comes to Magento. It really is not good enough to just be a great PHP or HTML developer, you need a whole lot more. I really feel I can talk on this matter for 2 reasons:

1. I have made a conscious investment in my company, objectsource, to get up to speed and learn Magento 2. This has been a significant investment, but that is because I really wanted to ensure we knew what we were doing with this platform.
2. We have already been engaged by a couple of clients that have had failed Magento 2 projects that we have now recovered.

 

So, in short, I am still a firm believer of Magento and it being *the* right platform of choice when it comes to building an online shop that you want to have grow with you.
