It makes me really sad when I hear about some people that hate Magento – oops, I hear my 4 year old son say to me “Mumma, don’t say that word hate, it is a strong word, we don’t say that”. He is right, but unfortunately, there are some people out there that have had some terrible experiences. There are loads of reasons for this and I have talked about those in other blog posts; understanding the platform, choosing the right London Magento Agency or anywhere, just make it the right one and so on.
Oops, I was meant to be talking about why I love it! I have to tell you though, when we first starting working with Magento over 4 years ago, you will not believe the words that would come out of this well spoken, brought up woman! I cannot tell you how much I hated it, I lost so much money on the first project, the second, the third, the forth… So why did I keep going?
I worked as a Principle Consultant for some big dotcom names where they would have to spend around £1 million in license fees before they had even started any development to make their site work and look like they needed it to! Magento’s Community version is free and if you decide to opt for the Enterprise version then the license fee is a fraction of the cost, fraction! This means that you entire budget can then be used to make your site work and look the way you want it, no compromises.
You may still be asking why as the Founding Partner and MD of a London Magento Agency, I kept going!? Why are you going to keep doing something that is sinking you in debt! Well, with my eCommerce experience I just knew this was the route to go and so, in truth, I made a loss so that a) I could show prospective clients that we can do it and b) I wanted to invest in learning the platform – we never made short cuts, we wanted to do every Magento project correctly, that is always the commitment from objectsource.
Hey, how can you doubt the platform when Magento is now used by 28% of the top 100K sites worldwide, according to Alexa 1M and 43% of UK site use Magento!
