I was watching Turbo with my son last night, you know that funny snail film! Anyway, it was three parts of the race at the end that made me think about you guys promoting your website…
Part 1 – Turbo using his snail size to gain
You see Turbo was losing badly until he came into the pit stop and once he was told by his fellow pit stop crew to start racing like a snail and not like a race driver (all the others) he found a way through to get to 2nd place. See, he realised that his size meant he could go under the cars, he could tuck into wheels and so on. He thought about how he was different and how to use that to his advantage.
Part 2 – Guy Gagné focused on the his competitor, Turbo and lost his advantage
I see some people doing this, they focus so much on what their competitors are doing that they forget what they are doing and lose their place in the rankings! See Guy Gagné was focused so much on where Turbo was and cutting corners to beat him that he crashed and burned by going over the ‘marbles’! Stop worrying about your competitors and the fact they are updating content, finding new products gaining Google rankings, just keep one eye on them to maybe help with your strategy, but focus on your website!
Part 3 – Determination
So, Guy Gagné caused a major crash at the end and we thought the race was over, but no Turbo with all his determination found a way to still win the race. With his brother’s support, he used the fact he was a snail, hid into his shell and rolled over the finish line! What a guy.
Think about it, you might not be the biggest with all the resources of these large organisations, but you can still do it with understanding your unique selling points, staying focused on what you are trying to achieve and finally, sheer determination to succeed with perhaps encouragement from those around you.
Who said that watching kids films was just for them 😉
